It's been a long day. Finally at 9:33pm Jackson is asleep on the couch and Ani and Jessica are quietly talking in their room. I'll go back in a minute and tell them in my most serious mother voice that it's time to stop talking and go to sleep. It is the calm before the beautiful chaos and wonder of the Triduum.
During Lent, the girls gave up buying school lunch which they are normally treated to on saint days. They've persevered for a month and a half now packing their own lunches each night--or suffering through what Jeff and I pack for them when they forget (leftover brussel sprouts, anyone?).
Tomorrow, they have big plans to count up each saint day from Ash Wednesday to Good Friday, multiply that number by $3.25 each and tell me the grand total. They'll put the money from their "fasting" in our family's Rice Bowl. I'd better stop by the bank for some small bills. Putting in a big wad of ones and fives is so much more satisfying than a few slim 20s. Here's hoping there are a lot of saint days in Lent!
You are so much more than a closet blogger, you are an artist with the written word...and you are a phenomenal mother. I love you so much!
ReplyDeleteYes, Jessica I would have to agree.
